LORD MERTHYRasked Her Majesty's Government when a Rule Committee for Magistrates' Courts will be appointed in accordance with the provisions of Section 15 of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1949.
THE LORD CHANCELLORI am glad to have this opportunity to announce that I have now appointed a Rule Committee for Magistrates' Courts, in accordance with the provisions of Section 15 of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1949. As provided by that Section, the Committee will be required to make rules for regulating and prescribing the procedure and practice to be followed in magistrates' courts and by justices' clerks.
The noble Lord, the Lord Chief Justice, has agreed to act as Chairman of the Committee, and the other members are:—
