§ Dr. Broughtonasked the President of the Board of Trade the estimated total value of the Government orders for woollen textiles in 1952.
§ Mr. P. ThorneycroftI assume that the hon. Member has in mind orders under the scheme for placing additional defence contracts for textiles up to a value of £20-25 million. I cannot say how50W much of the £20–25 million will be spent on wool textiles. A substantial contract for khaki serge has, however, recently been placed under these arrangements, and further contracts for wool goods will be placed by the Ministry of Supply in the early future.
