§ 49. Mr. M. Stewartasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether his attention has been drawn to the killing of a number of North Korean prisoners of war held by the United Nations forces; and whether he will make representations to the United Nations concerning the administration of prisoner of war camps in Korea.
§ Mr. Selwyn LloydYes. I am aware that on two occasions recently rioting has broken out in prisoner-of-war camps administered by the United Nations Command. As General Ridgway ordered an immediate inquiry into the incidents, I see no reason to make any representations. The International Red Cross has also been asked to investigate the incidents and is now doing so.
