HC Deb 26 March 1952 vol 498 c52W
15. Mr. Awbery

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what progress is being made with the scheme to rehabilitate disabled workers in Singapore; how many of the trainees have been found employment after completing their training; and to what extent it is intended to continue and extend the scheme.

Mr. Lyttelton

During the first six months of this scheme 283 employers have promised their support and the technical selection committee has met regularly to interview disabled persons and make recommendations for their training or re-employment. Of 42 persons interviewed 21 had been found employment. I understand that the scheme will certainly be continued and has the support of the Singapore Government.
