§ 97. Mr. Ewartasked the Minister of Health what are the number of beds allocated to the care and treatment of the chronic sick in Sunderland hospitals; what steps are being taken to provide additional beds; and how many chronic sick are awaiting admission to hospital.
§ Miss Hornsby-SmithI am informed that there is a total of 567 beds for the investigation and treatment of elderly people in hospitals in the Sunderland group, and that it is proposed to provide 26 more during the next financial year. The number of patients waiting is 15.
