§ Mr. Errollasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the reason for the Government appointing a director to the Old Clyton Colliery Company.
§ Sir A. SalterI much regret an error in the list circulated on 27th February last in reply to a request by the hon. Member for Enfield, East (Mr. Ernest Davies). What is there described as the Old Clyton Colliery Company should be the Nottingham and Clifton Colliery Limited, and there are in fact two Government appointed directors, Sir Edward D. A. Herbert, O.B.E., and Mr. J. S. Miller. These appointments were made because the whole of the shares of the company are in Government ownership, to which they were transferred by an Order of the Minister of Fuel and Power of 23rd December, 1942, under Regulation 78 of the Defence Regulations.
