HC Deb 14 March 1952 vol 497 cc166-7W
Mr. Bottomley

asked the Secretary for Overseas Trade, as representing the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, what further sales of lead have been made to the United States of America.

Mr. Hopkinson

Yes. The Ministry of Materials have now sold to the American Government 23,000 long tons of lead which was under contract to them from Australian, Mexican and Peruvian production. In each case the prior agreement of the producers was obtained. The lead is for delivery during the next five months and is sold at the United States internal price. This transaction and the previous sale of 30,000 tons will together realise about 22 million dollars.
