Colonel Clarkeasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when equipment for the training of Civil Defence headquarters personnel will be issued, in view of the fact that volunteers have been enrolled for this branch since 1949 and little training in their potential role can at present be given them.

Maxwell FyfeMost of the indoor training of the headquarters section can be carried out with non-specialised equipment, such as maps, tally-boards, etc., which local authorities can provide for themselves. I hope that, in the course of the next few weeks, it will be possible to make a start on providing from central supplies such specialised equipment as is necessary for outdoor training, e.g. in technical reconnaissance.
