Mr. de Freitasasked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is aware that the Lincolnshire Rivers Board has decided to allow the British Sugar Corporation at Bardney to discharge trade effluent into the River Witham; and, since this will pollute the river, whether he will take steps to protect the rights of those who fish in the River Witham.
§ Sir T. DugdaleThe Lincolnshire River Board have given their consent to the temporary discharge into the River Witham of a trade effluent from the British Sugar Corporation's factory at Bardney so that the Corporation can repair their storage ponds. I am satisfied that the Board have taken all reasonable precautions to safeguard the fisheries.
