§ 77. Mr. McKayasked the Secretary of State for War why 14184635 Gunner Malcolm McKenzie, U Battery, Royal Artillery, Cyprus, who was given leave to visit his home, has been detained in a transit camp in Port Said since 19th May with several other soldiers who are on leave; whether he will take steps to avoid such delays in future; and to what extent the period of leave in this country will be curtailed due to the delay in arrival.
§ Mr. HeadThe soldier has not been granted leave, but is returning to this country for transfer to the reserve in July on completion of his colour service. On arrival, on about 26th June, he will get the normal terminal leave which will be unaffected by the delay.
