Mr. Spenceasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the estimated cost of converting and constructing Woodlands House, Cults, Aberdeenshire, into a children's home; when the work will be completed; how many children it will accommodate; and by what amount the present estimated cost exceeds the original tenders.
§ Mr. J. StuartWoodlands Home, Cults, has accommodation for 50 mentally defective children. A new block for 50 children is expected to be ready by the autumn of 1953. The cost of this block, which forms part of a long-term development scheme, is estimated on the tender prices at about £65,000, but it is not yet possible to say what the final cost will be.
