HL Deb 31 July 1952 vol 178 c612WA
LORD BARNBY

asked Her Majesty's Government whether, following the statement made on May 21, 1952, they are now able to report plans for more rapid provision of No. 1 Dress for the Forces.

EARL FORTESCUE

The programme for the issue of No. 1 dress announced in my reply to a question by the noble Lord on May 21 this year still stands. Her Majesty's Government have, however, recently decided to provide this uniform for the Army contingents, other than the Household troops, which will take part in the Coronation ceremonies, both those taking part in the procession and those lining the streets or carrying out other duties in London. This provision will make possible a further small progress in fitting out the Regular Army with this new uniform.

House adjourned at twenty-two minutes past nine o'clock.
