§ 16. Sir H. Williamsasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies why Mr. John Eber, who has been detained in Changi Prison, Singapore, since 8th January, 1951, under Regulation 20 (1) of the Emergency Regulations at present in force in the Colony of Singapore, has not received a statement of the reasons for his internment and has not been brought up for trial before any judicial tribunal.
§ Mr. LytteltonMr. John Eber has received a statement of the reasons for his detention. I regret that it has not been possible to bring him to trial, but I am satisfied that the action taken has been in the public interest.
