§ Mr. Viantasked the Minister of Food whether he will bear in mind the fact when considering the recommendation of the Medical Research Council for the addition of iodine to all salt for human consumption that large numbers of the public strongly object to the addition of iodine to salt; and whether he will give an undertaking that some uniodised salt will always be available for the general public.
§ Major Lloyd GeorgeI am aware that some members of the public have expressed their objection to the iodisation of salt. But it would be premature to give any undertaking before I have had the opportunity to consider the recommendations of the Food Standards Committee who are now considering representations following the publication of their report.
