Mr. Teelingasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will give an assurance that no renewal of sterling loans to the Argentine Government in the present negotiations will be agreed unless some satisfactory arrangement is made concerning the amounts claimed by British holders of the Anglo-Argentine Tramways as compensation for losses in the B.A. Tramways Corporation.
§ Mr. R. A. ButlerNegotiations with the Argentine Government are now proceeding, and I am unable to make any statement about them at present. I can, however, assure my hon. Friend that every effort will be made to obtain satisfaction for British holders in companies which have claims for compensation against the Argentine Government.
