Mr. Ernest Daviesasked the Minister of Transport the number of vehicles owned and employed on collection and delivery or feeder services by the main line railway companies at the time of their acquisition by the British Transport Commission; and, before initiating further legislative changes, what estimate he made of the number of vehicles so employed lat the present time by the British Railways and the Road Haulage Executive.
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydI am informed by the British Transport Commission that the number of vehicles taken over from the railway companies and employed at the time on collection and delivery services was 11,828. I understand that at present about 15,000 vehicles are employed on collection and delivery services.
