§ Mr. Geoffrey LloydThe care and treatment of pit ponies are regulated by the Third Schedule to the Coal Mines Act, 1911, as amended by the Coal Mines (Horses) Regulations, 1949. These Regulations are supervised by seven horse inspectors who devote their whole time to this work, as well as by other members of the mines inspectorate who give part of their time to it.
