§ 10. Mr. Sorensenasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies why African nurses who have qualified in this country and in some cases are appointed as sisters are compelled to nurse three years in West African hospitals before they can be appointed as sisters in those hospitals.
§ Mr. LytteltonThe condition was imposed in Nigeria because it was considered that the duties assigned to nursing sisters there were in some respects more responsible than those of a ward sister in this country, and that a period of experience of local conditions was necessary.
