§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterI am satisfied that it would not be in the public interest to depart from the long-established practice of not giving more information about the note issue than is already available from published returns. The Bank of England Report for the year ended 28th February, 1951, shows that £916 millions of notes were issued (as opposed to printed) in that year. A Report for the year ended 28th February, 1952, will be published shortly.
