§ 18. Captain Ryderasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is aware that under the contractual agreement with Germany many of the ex-ally refugee organisations will lose the special facilities they enjoyed under the Occupation Statute; and what steps he is taking to preserve these facilities.
§ Mr. NuttingThese special facilities were not specifically based on the Occupation Statute but were provided, at the cost of the Occupation budget, by the Control Commission for Germany. The facilities were withdrawn about the beginning of this year and there can be no question of restoring them in view of the termination of the work of the International Refugee Organisation for which the facilities were granted and of the need to reduce Occupation costs.
