§ 81. Brigadier Medlicottasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he is aware of the serious effect which the high cost of petrol is having on production and marketing costs of agricultural and horticultural products; and if he will now give further and favourable consideration to the proposals put forward by the National Farmers' Union for a rebate scheme in respect of petrol used only for agricultural vehicles working on the land.
§ Mr. R. A. ButlerAs I explained in the House on 30th April, full account was taken of the Budget increase of duty on petrol in framing the current price schedules for agricultural products. Apart from any other consideration, it would not be practicable to set up a rebate system in respect of the separate quantity of petrol used for products outside the scope of the Price Review.
