§ 57. Mr. Hurdasked the Minister of Food the total amount of food subsidies paid in the first six months of the current financial year.
§ Major Lloyd GeorgeMy Department does not prepare half-yearly trading accounts since experience has shown that such accounts for less than a period of a year are liable to be seriously misleading. On the basis of monthly estimates it is calculated that the total subsidy for the year 1951–52 will be about £410 million.
