§ Mr. Fenner Brockwayasked the Minister of National Insurance whether, in view of growing unemployment and the extended periods of individual unemployment, he proposes to increase the benefits of unemployed persons and their dependants.
§ Mr. Peake1 cannot agree that the latest available figures of unemployment have any bearing on the rates of unemployment benefit. Unemployment as a whole is about the same as a year ago and the numbers unemployed for extended periods have declined.
