§ 77. Mr. Maudlingasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether his request to the Capital Issues Committee, and the banks, to restrict the provision of credit for hire purchase facilities, applies equally to the hire purchase business conducted by the nationalised gas and electricity industries.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterThere is no difference in the position in this respect of the nationalised gas and electricity industries and that of other sellers of goods 9W on hire purchase; and the principles underlying my right hon. Friend's request apply equally to them as to other bodies.
