HC Deb 28 February 1952 vol 496 c205W
159. Sir R. Acland

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will state, up to the latest available date, the amount spent out of the British contribution of £760,000 to the United Nations Expanded Programme for Technical Assistance to under-developed countries; and what information he has as to the main reasons for any under-spending of the sum contributed.

Mr. Nutting

From 1st July, 1950, to 30th September, 1951, the sum of £73,941 was spent from the United Kingdom contribution of £760,000.

Information from the Secretariat of the United Nations, which is responsible for this expenditure, does not show the reasons for underspending. It should be borne in mind that technical assistance is a new scheme which has been slow in getting under way.
