§ Mr. P. ThorneycroftNo official comparison of changes in the volume of textile production in the United Kingdom between 1938 and the post-war years is available. It is, however, estimated that, taking 1946 as 100, production in 1935 was about 143, and in the first six months of the year 1951, was 154. The comparable figure for the last six months of 1951 was about 140. Comparisons over such a period should, of course, be interpreted with caution.
