§ Miss HorsbrughOf the 290,000 boys and 280,000 girls aged 13 in January, 1951, 50,800 boys and 51,700 girls were receiving grammar education free of charge in grant aided schools. I have no figures of places available and no other statistics which suggest that girls do better in the allocation tests than boys.

The figures also cover those children for whom the local education authority pay fees at direct grant schools.
