97. Mr. Vaneasked the Minister of Transport in view of the disadvantages of maintaining the separate Road Fund, if he will take steps to enable him to treat the various receipts into, and issues out of, this Fund in the same way as other receipts from taxation and expenditure on public works.
§ Mr. MaclaySince the 1st April, 1937, the Road Fund has been maintained by moneys provided annually by Parliament under Section 33 of the Finance Act, 1936. It is for all practical purposes treated as a voted service, and the special legislation that would be necessary to replace it by such a service would not be justified at the present time.
