§ 109. Mr. Hector Hughesasked the Minister of Education what are her plans for the promotion of physical education in, and in connection with, school courses.
§ Miss HorsbrughI do not control the curriculum in schools, but physical education is taught in all grant-aided schools, and is, like other subjects, inspected by Her Majesty's Inspectors who give such advice as they think necessary. The importance of physical education is generally recognised by local education authorities and teachers, and while I shall of course take any opportunity for offering suggestions, I do not think that any special action on my part is called for at the present time.
