§ 125. Mr. Jannerasked the President of the Board of Trade whether, as numbers of people will be prevented from spending their holidays abroad owing to the decrease in allowances for foreign currency, he will take steps to ensure that hotels and boarding houses in the British Isles do not increase their charges because of the increased clientele during the holiday seasons.
§ Mr. P. ThorneycroftI am sure that hotels and boarding houses will realise that it is not in their own interests to take advantage of the recent restrictions on foreign travel to increase their charges. In fact, the number taking holidays abroad is usually very small compared with those taking their holidays in this country, and these restrictions are not likely to increase appreciably the demand for holiday accommodation as a whole.
