asked the President of the Board of Trade what priorities are being given to industries in the Development Areas in the allocation of scarce raw materials.

In allocating scarce raw materials, first regard is had to firms, including those in Development Areas, engaged mainly on exports, re-armament and essential civilian production. We shall continue existing arrangements whenever they will assist firms in the Development Areas in these fields.
