§ Mr. Fenner Brockwayasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether his attention has been drawn to a resolution adopted by the Kenya African Union Central Committee on 21st December, 1951, expressing the opinion that there is no possibility of reaching any agreement between the three main races in Kenya regarding its future constitution and demanding that a group of impartial experts should be sent from the United Kingdom to examine the situation; and whether he will consider acceding to this request.
§ Mr. LytteltonThe answer to the first part of the Question is "Yes." I do not propose to alter the present arrangements which my predecessor agreed with representatives of the communities in Kenya. It is most important that these communities should reach agreement on future constitutional developments, and I earnestly hope that all concerned will do their best to secure it. If they do, I see no reason why they should not succeed.
