§ 53. Colonel Crosthwaite-Eyreasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what percentage of exports during 1951 to the dollar area are paid for in transferable sterling.
§ Mr. R. A. ButlerI assume that my hon. and gallant Friend refers to exports ostensibly sent to other countries but subsequently forwarded to the United States. No figures of such exports are available, but such evidence as I have indicates that they are a very small proportion of the total exports either of the United Kingdom or of the whole sterling area.
