118. Mr. PeterFreeman asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government how many crematoria he has authorised to be built each year since 1945; and how many are now in existence in the country.
Mr. MacmillanNo authorisations to build crematoria were given in the years 1945 to 1949; one was given in 1950 and three in 1951. There are now 59 crematoria in England, Scotland and Wales.
