§ Mr. HeadThe system of compassionate posting was abolished in January, 1947, because, with the introduction of a comparatively short term of national service and with the majority of the Regular Army overseas, it became impracticable. Deserving compassionate cases are dealt with in other ways, by the grant of compassionate leave or release when this is justified.
