HC Deb 04 February 1952 vol 495 c67W
1. Major Anstruther-Gray

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he can see his way to increasing the capital expenditure allocation for electricity in rural areas in order to allow urgent schemes to be proceeded with.

Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd

In present circumstances capital expenditure is inevitably restricted, but we have made it possible for the area boards to proceed with the rural electrification schemes already in progress and to start some of the urgent new schemes.
