§ 78. Mr. H. Nichollsasked the Minister of Health to give an estimate of the reasons for the tuberculosis death rate in Walsall being much in excess of the country average.
§ Mr. Iain MacleodI do not think the difference reflects problems peculiar to Walsall. From 1949 to 1951, the annual tuberculosis death rates for Walsall declined more than for England and Wales as a whole, and were not significantly different from those for a number of other comparable county boroughs.
