§ 74. Mr. Mulleyasked the Under-Secretary of State for Air why applicants for technical commissions in the Royal Air Force are required to pass the same selection board as for non-scientific commissions; and what account is taken of their scientific qualifications.
Mr. WardCandidates for technical and non-technical commissions in the Royal Air Force appear before the same selection board, since much the same personal qualities are required in both cases. It is these qualities alone which the board attempts to assess. Candidates for commissions in the technical branch are not called before the board unless their scientific qualifications are considered adequate.
