§ 101. Mr. Noel-Bakerasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, in view of the membership of other Commonwealth nations, and of the important 209W social and political problems with which it deals, it is now the intention of Her Majesty's Government to join the Inter-Governmental Committee for European Migration.
§ Mr. NuttingNo. Her Majesty's Government are generally in sympathy with the objectives of the Committee. But after careful reconsideration, they have come to the conclusion that in present circumstances the United Kingdom cannot take on the additional financial commitment involved in joining this Committee.
