asked the Minister of Materials what advice has been given by his Department to local authorities about the collection of waste paper.

Local authorities are now kept in touch with current questions of waste paper recovery through the representatives of their associations who attend conferences with representatives of the mills, the merchants, and the Ministry of Materials. This is a recent development which I cordially welcome, since it enables all those concerned to discuss their common problems in this important field.
