asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government how much financial aid is available to local authorities in England who wish to avail themselves of the Town Development Act; and which local authorities have intimated a desire to operate the Act.

In reply to the first part I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given to the hon. Member for Dundee, East (Mr. G. M. Thomson) on 2nd December, 1952.

In reply to the second, several authorities are known to be considering action under the Town Development Act, but none has so far made formal proposals.
