HC Deb 09 December 1952 vol 509 cc47-8W
Mr. N. H. Lever

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will review the fee paid under the Coroners' Amendment Act, 1926, to pathologists in respect of post-mortem examinations, in view of its inadequacy, having regard to present conditions.

Sir D. Maxwell Fyfe

Legislation would be necessary to increase the fees which may be paid to medical practitioners under Section 23 of the Coroners' (Amendment) Act, 1926, for making postmortem examinations, and I regret that I cannot say how soon it will be possible to introduce legislation for this purpose.
