HC Deb 09 December 1952 vol 509 c33W
104. Mr. Aitken

asked the President of the Board of Trade if his Trade Commissioners in Canada had informed him that an order for 300 Canadian National Railway passenger cars, valued at over $50,000,000, was recently opened for tender; arid if British firms were among those invited to tender.

Mr. Mackeson

The answer to both parts of the Question is "No." The Canadian National Railways did not put the order out to tender.

The United Kingdom Senior Trade Commissioner in Canada has been instructed to ask the Canadian National Railways that United Kingdom firms may be given an opportunity to tender for similar business in the future.
