§ Mr. Bakerasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the estimated loss of revenue resulting from the sale of goods, such as cars, refrigerators, washing-machines, etc., free of Purchase Tax to American service families stationed in this country.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterUnder the arrangements made in 1949 between the United States and British Governments, Purchase Tax refunds are made by the Foreign Office in respect of certain articles bought by members of the United States Forces and their families in this country. To date, the approximate total of these refunds is £1,391,000.
