HC Deb 02 December 1952 vol 508 c146W
Mr. Hardy

asked the Minister of Health how far his regulations compel a patient to pay another shilling if the bottle of drops ordered by a doctor proves ineffective after use for a day or two.

Mr. Iain Macleod

A charge is payable on each occasion that the prescription or prescriptions ordered by a doctor on any one prescription form are dispensed by a chemist, or on each occasion that medicine is dispensed by a doctor who dispenses his own medicine.
