HC Deb 02 December 1952 vol 508 cc139-40W
92. Mr. Lewis

asked the Minister of Labour what action he has taken to discuss with the trade unions and employers the proposed workers' charter; and when the proposals contained in this charter will be brought before Parliament for the purpose of legislative action thereon.

Mr. Watkinson

My right hon. and learned Friend hopes to put before the National Joint Advisory Council proposals for an Industrial Code, the aim of which would be to encourage the adoption of enlightened standards in industry. It is not the Government's intention to introduce legislation on this subject, though I hope that in due course Parliament may give its approval to the standards recommended in the Code.
