HC Deb 02 December 1952 vol 508 cc131-2W
Mr. Alport

asked the President of the Board of Trade what action has been taken to regulate the import of Canary tomatoes during the present period, in view of the effects on the British growers of the abnormally early and large crop produced in the Canary Islands this season.

Mr. Mackeson

During 1952 the open general licence for imports of tomatoes from Western Europe and certain other non-sterling sources was suspended from 16th June to 15th October. The arrangements for 1953 will be announced as soon as possible.
