HC Deb 02 December 1952 vol 508 c137W
86. Sir W. Wakefield

asked the Minister of Works why the staff of his account department increased from 673 in 1951–52 to 827 in 1952–53.

Mr. Eccles

The accounting system is being re-organised and in this process, work which was previously carried by other divisions of the Ministry is being transferred to the Accounts Division. The staff attributed to the Accounts Division, therefore, shows an increase, but there will be a net saving in the numbers employed in the Ministry on accounting duties.
