§ Major Markhamasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether, in view of the increases in the cost of petrol, tyres, and motoring generally, he will amend Part VI of the Local Government Act, 1948, so as to bring motor car allowances to members of county councils in line with the actual cost of using private motor cars where necessary.
§ Mr. H. MacmillanThe Local Government (Members' Allowances) Amend-6W ment Regulations, 1952, increased motor car allowances as from 1st April this year, to bring them into line with running costs. I am keeping the position under review.
