§ 74. Mr. Peter Freemanasked the Minister of National Insurance whether he will outline the costs and benefits obtainable by a mother on the birth of her child in a hospital and at her home, respectively, including the services of a home help; and, in view of the difficulties of providing enough accommodation in hospitals and the desire of many mothers 275W to have their babies at home, if he will consider increasing the benefit for those who are willing to do so and thus save hospital beds for more urgent cases.
§ Mr. TurtonThese matters are dealt with in the National Insurance Advisory Committee's Report on maternity benefits which was published last January, to which I would refer the hon. Member. With regard to the last part of the Question, I cannot add anything to the reply given on 7th April by my right hon. Friend to the hon. Lady the Member for Flint, East (Mrs. White).
